Daughter of Margaret Irvin and Joseph Benson. She married Robert Stockton about 1907. The couple relocated to the Arizona Territory where a daughter was born about 1909. By 1910, the family is found in Orange County, Florida. Either before or soon after Robert had died in 1919, the widow and daughter are again living in Guilford County, with her parents. Margaret remains there through the 1930 census.
