David James Ansel, age 22 of Fort Washington PA, died suddenly August 19, 2011 in Abington Hospital. He was a student.

Mr. Ansel was born in Philadelphia, PA, the son of James and Pamela Abraham Ansel.

He was survived by his parents, two brothers, Ryan Thomas Ansel of Ft. Washington, PA, Andrew Aubrey Ansel of Ft. Washington, PA, Grandfather, Charles Ansel.

David, the eldest of three boys was a thoughtful, caring and supportive brother, son and friend. He was a well rounded individual who took great pride in serving his community, church and school.

David enjoyed different cultures and traveled across Europe several times including a mission trip to Czech Republic to assist in building a church. David was known for his competitiveness and impressive accomplishments, an individual who distinguished himself as a scholar, athlete and musician (viola, violin and guitar). His competitive spirit was evident in the many sports he played; competing in baseball, basketball, soccer and rowing. He set high standards and enjoyed his greatest success in baseball, basketball where he was selected to numerous all-star teams and played in the 2007 CYO Pennsylvania State Championship Basketball Team for St. Alphonsus of Maple Glen, PA. Rowing became the passion he carried to college after a highly successful rowing career at LaSalle College High School where he and his teammates earned a silver medal in the Stotesbury Regatta, the world's largest high school competition. This was in addition to winning both the city rowing championship and qualifying for the U.S. National High School Championship in Indiana. David also rowed for the Undine Barge Club where he won gold in the 2008 Independence Day Regatta as well as competed in the Royal Canadian Henley Regatta. At Hobart College, David rowed where he won the New York State Collegiate Rowing Championship and the Knecht Cup as well as received the Hobart College 2008 Athletic Award. Below is a brief synopsis of David's Accomplishments and community involvement.

At the young age of 22, he accomplished a lot. Funeral Services were held August 27, 2011 in the Church of Saint Martin in The Fields, Phila. Burial was in the Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Cheltenham.
