Sarah Elizabeth Evans was born December 4, 1856, at Epworth, Iowa. She came with her mother and family to Nebraska in 1886. On Dec. 12, 1888 she was married to Francis Marion Foster and they resided in Beaver Crossing, Nebr. until his death in September 1923.

She was the mother of four sons, Ralph, the eldest, passed away at the age of nine months. Those surviving are Alvin J. of Jacksonville, Ill., and Earl E. and Esley A., both of Clay Center, Nebr. After Mr. Foster's death she came to Seward and made her home with her half brother, Ed Nichols, where she passed away Wednesday morning, May 23, aged 86 years, 5 months and 22 days.

She joined the Methodist church in Iowa in 1871 and remained a member of that denomination until she came to Seward, when she united the United Brethren church, and has continued her membership since that time.

On Friday services were held in the United Brethren church, Rev. George Lomas being in charge. Interment was at Beaver Crossing.
