Barham was born at 3:17 pm at Parkview. Weighed 5 lbs. Nurse was Mrs. Bland.
Notes from baby book. That was kept by his mother Ethel East.
Items of interest: Laughed aloud at eight weeks old. Knew his Grandmother at six weeks. Could Patty-cake & Peek-a-boo at eight months.
How I Slept: Not very good. First tooth was at 8 1/2 months. First words were: Ma-Ma. Began to creep: Seven months. Also found in the baby book is one baby tooth.
When asked of his 5 year old brother Kenneth "What is your new brothers name?" he would reply
"Barn just like the cows and horses live in."
Barham Moody East was named after Dr. Robert Barham. The doctor that delivered him. His mother was so glad to deliver she named him after her doctor. (but, why not Robert?) Moody came from his father. No wonder he was known as a jokester.
When he was a small boy some times he would stay the night with the Mr. & Mrs. Twist that lived over their store across the street from where he lived at 536 So. 38th West Ave., Tulsa, Ok. On one of these occasions while tucking him into bed Mrs. Twist said to him "You know who slept in this bed last night?" "No" answered Barham. "Pretty Boy Floyd" she replied."
("Pretty Boy Floyd" was a outlaw back in the 1920's. Was shot to death on a farm near East Liverpool, Ohio on October 22ne, 1934 by federal and local authorities. Federal agent Melvin Purvis approached him as he lay dying and stated, "You're Pretty Boy Floyd." Floyd did not seem to like his use of the name. "I'm Charles Arthur Floyd" was his reply.)
2 years old when the American stock market crashed
7 years old in the year radar was invented
14 years old at the time of the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor
18 years old when the atomic bomb was dropped on Hiroshima
