Mr. Fletcher was born in Buncombe County and was a son of the late William and Minnie Gaston Fletcher. He was a graduate of Sand Hill High School and attended Asheville-Biltmore College. He retired after 38 years as a carrier for the Asheville Citizen-Times and he was a member of Oak Forest Presbyterian Church.
Surviving are one son, W.G. Fletcher of Weaverville; two granddaughters, Cynthia Marrie Fletcher of Landrum, SC and Amanda Fletcher Taylor of Arden; and three great-grandchildren, Sharlee, Zachary and Shelby.
