Born in Bayonne, Mr. Serafin lived in Flemington before moving to Rahway 20 years ago. He was a construction laborer for the International Brotherhood of Laborers Local 394 of Elizabeth for 30 years, retiring four years ago. He was also a member of the L.U.I.N.A. with the Interna- tional Laborers Union in Wash- ington, D.C.
Mr. Serafin served in the Navy during World War II in the Asiatic- Pacific Theater. He received an Asiatic-Pacific Theater Medal with three stars and a European Theater Medal with one star.
He was predeceased by his wife, Josephine (nee Caruano). Surviving are a daughter, Josephine P. Serafin ; son Walter Serafin Jr.; grandchildren, Nicholas and Emily, and loving nieces and nephews.
