EDYTH A. ALTFATER, 97, of Memphis, died of heart failure Saturday at Wesley Highland Manor. Canale Funeral Directors has charge. She was a Red Cross volunteer during World War II, a member of the Shrine Auxiliary and in 1984 established the Abe Altfater Memorial Challenge Trophy for the Germantown Horse Show. Mrs. Altfater, the widow of Aaron 'Abe' Altfater, leaves a sister, Janet N. Bell of Columbus, Ohio.
