Bernice Catherine was born March 27, 1926, in Pocahontas, Iowa, to John and Agnes (Stoulil) Payer. She attended elementary country schools and graduated from Pocahontas High School.

She moved to the Blair area in 1950 and worked at various jobs; the longest was as a cashier for Duffy's Market.

On Oct. 18, 1966, she married Ray Noyes in Blair.

Mrs. Noyes was a member of St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church in Blair. She was an avid quilt maker and seamstress and spent many enjoyable hours gardening around her home, raising both flowers and vegetables. She truly enjoyed spending time with family and friends that came to visit.

Bernice C. Noyes, 84, of Blair, died Saturday, Jan. 1, 2011, at Memorial Community Hospital in Blair.

Left to cherish her memory are her stepdaughters: Frances (Leonard) Zeleny of Louisiana, and Louise Snyder of Tekamah, NE; stepson, Clyde Noyes of Craig, NE; step-grandson , Kevin (Lilly) Snyder of Tekamah; in addition to nine other step-grandchildren and many step-great-grandchildren. In addition, she is survived by her sisters, Doris Pickering, Lexington, Ky., and Geraldine Jordan of Boone, Iowa; brothers and sisters-in-law, Jerry and Elsie Payer of Belmond/Spencer, Iowa, Duane and Shirley Payer of Centerville, Iowa, Ron Payer of Pocahontas, Iowa, Bob and Patty Payer of Storm Lake, Iowa; sisters-in-law, Esther Payer and Karlene Payer, both of Pocahontas; numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray; stepdaughter, Kathleen Noyes; stepson-in-law, Ken Snyder; and brothers, Jack Payer and Ray Payer.

Visitation will begin at noon Tuesday, Jan. 4, at Campbell-Aman Funeral Home with a rosary at 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 5, at St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church. Interment will be in the Blair Cemetery.
