Gaius "Gater" Stephens, 57, Russell Springs, died
Saturday, December 18, 1999 at VA Hospital in Louisville.

He was born in Russell County January 28, 1942 to Eunice O. Stephens Hagglund and the late Avery Thomas Stephens.

He was a carpenter and a Veteran of US Army.

Besides his mother he is survived by three brothers, Nathan Stephens and Marshall Stephens, both of Russell Springs and Larry Stephens, Oregon; and three sisters Rebecca Stephens and Glenda Tucker, both of Russell Springs and Vickie Ellis, Napa, California.

Services were held Monday, December 20, 1999, 10:00 at Bernard Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jeffery Aaron officiating.

Burial was in Bernard Cemetery.

Special music was provided by Glenda Tucker and Colleen Gaskins.

Pallbearers were Roger Tucker, Nathan Stephens,
Bobby Hudson, Rusty Hill, Shane Major and Lucio Louguina.

Bernard Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
