He retired in 2000 from Square D in Peru where he worked in the maintenance department. Prior to his employment with Square D and serving in the Marines he worked as a welder.
He was a 1956 graduate of Gilead High School, and a member of the Moose Lodge No. 249, Peru.
He is survived by his wife, Reta Bahney, Akron; a son, Paul Bahney, Rochester; two daughters, Denise Messer with friend Gene Slone, Warsaw, and Lisa Bahney with partner Dessen Rink, Goshen; one sister, Bonnie "Collene" Miller, Gilead; two brothers, Marvin and wife Carol Bahney, Akron, and John and wife Barb Bahney, Macy; five grandchildren, Ashley Bahney, Logan and Jerrica Messer, and Dustin and Bailey Rink.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Bobbie Bahney on Nov. 8, 1997.
