Capt Theophilus Marion Campbell I -
my maternal 4th great-uncle

Military: U.S. Army from 1812-1815 in the War of 1812 with the 16th Regiment (Burrus) Mississippi Militia. He was inducted and discharged at the FIFER Rank

North Carolina House of Commons: Theophilus represented Eagle Mills Township in the North Carolina State Legislature in 1826. Conveyance at that time was very poor and it has been handed down that he would pull off his shoes and walk to Raleigh barefooted. I have also heard that he would pull off his shoes and set them under the seat and make a fiery speech in the Legislative Hall bare footed. He said he left Winston-Salem at sun rise and walked to where J.T. Jennings lived and got there just as the sun was setting, a distance of 50 odd miles
