James Franklin "Jim" McDowell age 90 of Mt. Sterling, Illinois passed away at 2:40 a.m. Thursday, August 25, 2011 at the Heritage Manor Nursing Home in Mt. Sterling

Born February 24, 1921 in Brown County, Illinois the son of James Estel and Estella Hultz McDowell, Jim worked as a farmer and logger in both Brown and Adam County for several years.

He attended Greenwood School in Adams County, Illinois and earlier in life attended the Spring Valley Church in Adams County. Jim always enjoyed playing cards, hunting and visiting with friends.

Survivors include 6 sons, 2 daughters a sister Maxine Chute of Versailles, Illinois along with several grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a son.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 29, 2011 in the Hendricker Funeral Home in Mt. Sterling; Pastor Rob Laning officiating.
Burial will be in the Harwood Cemetery in Adams County, Illinois.

Visitation will be one hour prior to services on Monday at the funeral home.
