William Coles married Elizabeth Miller in Regina, Saskatachewan, Canada about 1923. They had three children:
1) Helen Coles MacNaughton
2) William L. Coles
3) Shirley Mae Coles Gruner

COLES--W. L. Coles, aged 60, of 537 Cresent St., NE., passed away Tuesday afternoon at Butterworth Hospital. Suriving are his wife, Elizabeth; one son, W. L. Coles, Jr., both of Grand Rapids; two daughters, Mrs. Ernest MacNaughton and Mrs. Thomas Gruner, both of Detroit; seven grandchildren; one brother, Lorne Coles of Prince Edward Island, Canada. Services will be held Friday afternoon, 2 o'clock, at the Zaagman Memorial Chapel, Dr. Lester A. Kilpatrick officiating. Interment Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Mr. Coles reposes at the chapel, where the family will meet relatives and friends Wednesday from 7:30 to 9 and Thursday from 2:30 to 6 and 7:30 to 9.
