Death came very suddenly to Mrs. Ida C. Swenson of Lindstrom who passed away quietly at the Cook County Hospital, Chicago, IL. She had arrived in Chicago, March 10 to visit her two sons, Howard and Harold. Her stay there became a short one as she took ill with pneumonia and passed away a week later on March 31 at midnight.

All her children with the exception of 2 girls who died in infancy still live. The children who remain to mourn her death are as follows: Mrs. Olive Henry, Arthur Gustafson, Mrs. Pearl McLean, Mrs. Lily Hone, Howard Swenson, and Harold Swenson.

The deceased was born in the beautiful province of Smaland, Sweden, October 27, 1869 and came to this country five years later. She arrived in Chisago City where she resided until the age of 16. She was married to Frank E Gustafson, this union being of short duration as her husband died a few years later. She later married Carl Edward Swenson. In both these marriages children were born. In the first, three girls and one boy, and in the second, two boys and two girls.

Her second husband Carl Edward Swenson died on Dec 4, 1933 after 35 years of married life.

Mrs. Swenson had been in failing health for some time following the death of her second husband, but had improved lately and had become encouraged to take a trip to Chicago to visit her sons. The poem below was dedicated to her cherished memory:

“Then rest beloved from struggles here,
From sorrows, anguish, and pain,
From all excitements and from fear.
Till all arise again.
From all excitements and from fear.
Till all arise again."

Funeral services were held Monday at 2:30 from the M. E. Church with the Revs. Bruland and Wahlquist officiating. Pallbearers were six nephews: Victor Brandt, Wm Brandt, Art Johnson, Henry Swenson, Al Swanson, and Earnest Swanson. Singers were Mrs. Hugo Almberg and Mrs. C. C. Sundberg. Remains were laid to rest at the cemetery here.
