Nellie (Irons) Baker, 81, died Thursday, March 21, 1985 in McCurtain Memorial Hospital in Idabel, Oklahoma.

Born August 24, 1903 in Valliant, Oklahoma, she lived in McCurtain County all of her life.

She and Emmitt Baker were married May 15, 1926 in McCurtain County, Oklahoma. She was a member of the Seventh Day Church of God.

Nellie was a neat housekeeper. She loved a clean, well-groomed yard with beautiful flowers. She tended an immaculate garden every year, canned all her vegetables and put up her own fruits and jellies. She quilted her own quilts, just like her mother taught her to do.

Nellie (Irons) Baker's parents were Will Irons and Connie (Williams) Irons. Nellie's siblings were Ida Lee Irons, Walter Irons, Raphael Irons, Gus Irons, Roy Irons & Emma (Irons) Wilds. She had two half sisters and one half brother who were Betty (Irons) (Stafford) Wyrick, Nancy Ruth (Irons) (Rowe) McCurry and James Irons. (different mother...Willie (Endsley) Irons)

In addition to her husband, Emmitt Baker, of the home, Nellie (Irons) Baker was survived by five (5) sons; Woodward Baker and wife, Sue of Garvin, OK, Hurshell Baker and wife, Pat, of Lemoore, California, James Baker and wife, Nellberta of Fairfield, Ohio, Ed Baker and wife, Jennie of Greenville, South Carolina and Don Baker and wife, Kaye of Choctaw, Oklahoma; one sister, Emma (Irons) (Wilds) Moreno of Riverside, California; seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, March 24, 1985 at the First Assembly of God Church of Valliant, OK, with the Rev. Paul Wilds (Nellie Baker's nephew) officiating, and assisted by the Rev. Jimmy Smalling.

Arrangements and buriel at Valliant Cemetery were under the direction of Coffey-Leonard Funeral Home of Idabel, OK.
