"JOHN CHARLES DILLMAN, SR.
February 2, 1927-August 20, 2011

Heaven's gates opened its doors to accept John C. Dillman, Sr. on August 20, 2011, so he could join his beloved wife Natalia Martinez Dillman who preceded him in death on January 8, 2007.

Born February 2, 1927 at San Nicolas Ranch in Nacozari, Sonora, Mexico, John led a very active and colorful life. A jack of all trades, John worked at the roundhouse for the railroad in Douglas. He also worked in the Bisbee mines, delivered groceries all over Southern Arizona for Phelps Dodge, worked at the bread bakery, and delivered ice blocks for the ice house. John finally joined the Army at the end of World War II and served in Europe for 3 years. Upon his return, he met and married Natalia where they then made their home in Douglas, Arizona. Soon after, John was employed by the U.S. Postal Service where he retired from in May of 1984. John continued to serve in the Army Reserve 8th Battalion 40th Armor Division from his discharge of World War II until his retirement in August of 1983.

He retired as a Master Sergeant. John was loved by many. He was a quiet man, always ready to lend a hand or give advice. John and his wife Natalia were very devout and active in the Catholic Church in Douglas. John was one of the first lay people to be granted the honor of becoming a Eucharistic Minister. He donated much of his time and love to the church. John was a 4th Degree Knight with the Knights of Columbus and also served as Grand Knight. He would help run Bingo at the Knights of Columbus Hall on Wednesday and Sunday nights.

John is survived by his children John C. Dillman, Jr. (Teri) of Missouri, Henry Dillman, Alicia G. (Dillman) Howard, and Maria (Terry) Dillman. Seven grandchildren, Patrick C. Dillman (Christy), Jeremy Dillman (Aime), Matthew Dillman, Daniel Dillman, Danielle T. Howard, Rebecca S. Howard, and Denyse Howard.
