After a long illness, William H. Calkins, well known gardener, died last night at his home in Melrose Road, Town of Owasco. He was in the 68th year of his age.
Mr. Calkins was born at Cold Springs, Onondaga County. He had lived in Owasco for the past 30 years.
Besides his widow, Mrs. Kate Selover Calkins, he is survived by four daughters, Mrs. James Murphy of Punxsutawney, Pa, Mrs. Edward Bryant of Sennett, Mrs. Raymond Fritz of Throop and Mrs. Erwin Norton of Auburn; one son, James H. Calkins of Cleveland, O., two brothers, Warren Calkins of Baldwinsville and Myron Calkins of Cato, one sisters Hattie Morgan of Syracuse, and 13 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at the home at 3 o'clock Saturday afternoon. Rev. Edward L. James, pastor of the Second Baptist Church is to be the officiating clergyman.
Interment will be in Lakeview Cemetery, Fleming.
