The Oklahoman, April 4, 1957:
W. M. Derrick, 71 year old painting contractor, who lived at 1433 NW 33, died unexpectedly Wednesday afternoon at his home following a heart attack. Services will be announced by Smith & Kernke Funeral Home. Born December 23, 1885 at Bakersfield, Misssouri, Derrick had lived in Oklahoma City 27 years. He belonged to the Painters & Decorators Contracting Association and was a 32nd degree Mason.

Surviving are his wife, Nettie, of the home; 2 sons, J. Gordon Derrick, 3030 NW 35 and Bill B. Derrick, Lawton; 2 daughters, Mrs Vera Epperson, Richardson, TX, and Mrs Jane Hathaway, Norwalk, CA; 6 grandchildren; 2 brothers, Burl Derrick, Dallas, and Sam Derrick, Springfield, MO; 3 sisters, Mrs Mollie Proffitt, Olathe, Colo.,Mrs Tavie Fisher, Byars, and Mrs Bertha Hall, 2505 NW 15.
