Graveside services for Gladys Massey Caughern will be held Friday, August 26, 2011 at 10:00 AM at the Highland Cemetery in Okemah. Gladys Massey Caughern was born September 2, 1915 in Cleveland, Oklahoma to Lawrence Arthur Massey and Mary Elizabeth (Whitney) Massey. She passed away Monday, August 22, 2011 in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 95. Mrs. Caughern graduated from High School in Cromwell, Oklahoma in 1933 and later attended college at East Central College in Ada. She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Muskogee, Oklahoma and a previous member of the Okemah First Baptist Church. Mrs. Caughern was a Past Matron of the Okemah Eastern Lodge and was a member of the Rebecca Lodge in Okemah. She was employed by Overall's Department Store from 1960 until 1982 when she retired to take care of her parents. She and Harold M. Caughern were married in 1935; he preceded her in death on August 24, 1959. Also preceding her in death were her parents and many other relatives and friends. * Services will be under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home, Okemah and officiated by Rev. Ledtkey McIntosh.
