He was born to Johnathan and Temperance (Avery) Leffingwell. His first marriage was to Julia Carrington in 1824 in Ill.
They had children: James, Thompson, Samuel, Prudensia, Caroline and Esther. All born in New York state.

Hiram and Mary Olive (Cady) Blowers were married by her father, Rev James Cady, on Dec 25, 1865 at Tomah, Monroe Co. Wis.

Civil War Record:
Hiram Leffingwell enlisted the U.S. Service under Captain Harrison V. Train* CO F 16th Infantry Regiment, Wisconsin Volunteer on the 24 Oct. 1861 at Marathon, Juneau Co. Wis. and mustered out 19 Aug 1862.

*(Harrison Von Train was born 1816 in New York and died Jan 16, 1895 Los Angeles CO, CA where he had served as a Methodist Clergyman. He married Hariett Emeline Lease on 27 Jun 1839 in Racine CO, WI. She was born 1831 and died 1915 and is buried with him in San Gabriel Cem. in L.A. CO. They had 1 daughter, Ella M (1863) who married Charles W Mott 24 Sep, 1884 in Juneau CO, WI).
