Pvt. G.S. Bell was at one time color bearer of the regiment and had one of his thumbs shot off at the Battle of Chancellorsville, Va. in May 1863 while waving the Confederate Battle Flag on to victory. He received a gunshot wound of the left wrist joint on July 28, 1864 which caused his discharge from the army on Feb.1, 1865.
G.S.Bell married Harriet Gantt and both are buried at White Plains Baptist Church Cemetery, Anderson County, S.C.
