David Samuel Jones was the second of four children born to Frank Ogle Jones and Susan Mariah Ewens. His three sisters were: Harriette Anne Jones, b. 1886, Mary Louise Jones, b. 1888, and Margueritte Elizabeth Jones (Hetherington) b. 1892.
David was a veteran of World War I. He was primarily a farmer, but after retiring from farming, he did some carpentry work for a time at Fort Leonard Wood in Missouri. David and his wife, Grace Elizabeth Meamber, were married in Callaway Co., Missouri, on July 27, 1924. They were parents of 2 sons, and 1 daughter.
