Funeral services for Mrs. Hazel Hughes Hancock, 61, of Holly Hill, will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 6, 2005, at First Pentecostal Holiness Church in Holly Hill. Burial will be in White Oak Cemetery near Holly Hill, directed by Thompson Funeral Home Inc. of Orangeburg.

Mrs. Hancock died Tuesday, Jan. 4.

Hazel Hughes Hancock, 61, of 147 Junior Lane, Holly Hill, died Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2005, at her residence.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 6, at First Pentecostal Holiness Church in Holly Hill, with the Rev. Vinnie Long officiating. Burial will be in Pratt Cemetery near Holly Hill.

Pallbearers will be Paul Pratt, Gregory Crummie, Clinton Crummie, Randy Crummie, Andy Weatherford, and James Arledge. Honorary pallbearers will be Jeffrey Weatherford and Eric Pratt.

The casket will be placed in the church one hour before the service.

Mrs. Hancock was born May 23, 1943, in Orangeburg County, a daughter of Thomas Fields and Mary Molphus Fields, and her adopted mother, Clara Fogle. She was a member of First Pentecostal Holiness Church in Holly Hill. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Lavance Hughes Sr.; a brother, Clyde Fields; and two sons, Van Hughes and Bugsey Hughes.

Survivors include her husband, James Douglas Hancock of Holly Hill; two sons, Marion Hughes of Holly Hill and Lavance P. Hughes Jr. and daughter-in-law, Rita Hughes, both of Holly Hill; one daughter and son-in-law, Tammie and Christopher Myles of Gaffney; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Alice Thompson and Rosemary Gartman, both of Orangeburg; four brothers, Herman Robinson of Orangeburg, Philmo Fields of Norway, Thomas Robinson and Tony Robinson, both of Orangeburg; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the residence of Lavance P. Hughes Jr., 905 Bay View St., Holly Hill, and at the funeral home.

Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Thompson Funeral Home, Inc. in Orangeburg.
