Services for Mary Joyce Callahan, 79, will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, August 21, 2007, from Harvey-Douglas Chapel with Dr. Alton Fanin and the Rev. James Watson officiating. A 1945 graduate of Tishomingo High School and Ardmore resident since 1949, Mrs. Callahan died on Saturday, August 18, 2007. She was born to Claude Heman and Maude Teresa Ferris Gray on September 26, 1927. She and Russell Callahan were married on August 3, 1945, in Stuart, Florida. He preceded her in death on April 18, 1994.
Mrs. Callahan was a homemaker and member of the Ardmore First Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, William T. Gray; and sisters, Mona Broughton, Gwendoline Moore, Nada Raper and Kate Pendergraft. Survivors include daughters, Marsha Watkins, and husband, Roger, Ardmore, and Becky Grider, and husband, Tony, Norman; grandchildren, Kelli Spencer, and husband, Charles, Dr. Steven Watkins, and wife, Mistye, all of Ardmore, Christopher Grider, and wife, Anna, Tulsa, and Callan Grider, Norman; and great-grandchildren, Jacob and Caleb Spencer and Austin and Gavin Watkins, all of Ardmore. Bearers will be Dr. Steven Watkins, Christopher Grider, Charles Spencer, Dr. Denver Rushing, Danny McCurry, Dickie Welch and Mike Hellack. Archie Welch and Buzz Matheny will be honorary escorts. Family visitation is planned from 7-8 p.m. tonight at Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home.
