Funeral rites for Edward Allen, colored, who died at his home in the northern part of Palmyra, Monday night at 11:10 o’clock following an illness of several weeks, were conducted at Park Chapel Baptist church this afternoon at 2:30, which burial in Greenwood cemetery. Rev. W.R.Bryant, was in charge of the services. He was born in this county, April 28, 1865, and had spent the greater part of his life in and near Palmyra. His father was the late Thornton Allen, a native of Kentucky. Besides his widow and one son Henry Allen of this city, he is also survived by one brother, Ben Allen of near Hester and three sisters, Sarah Newman of Hannibal and Ella Williams and Elisabeth Jackson, both of LaGrange. He also leaves a number of step children.
