She was born July 23, 1927 in Shelley, Idaho, to Joseph and Elda Handy Haycock and was the fifth child of six girls and four boys.
She loved crocheting, working in her garden and flowerbeds, fishing, reading, teasing and laughing. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. LaVerne will be missed by all who knew her.
Surviving are her children; Dan (Debra) Ascuena, Ron Ascuena, Bruce (Kathy) Ascuena, Jerilynn (Brent) Christiansen, Norman Powell and Jeff (Normandy) Powell; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are three siblings; Marceil Duckett, Bob Haycock and Barbara Calandra.
LaVerne was preceded in death by her mother and father; son, Stephen; and six siblings, LaMar Haycock, Deral Haycock, Bea Fleming, Joy Collier, Ginny Angell and Merlin Haycock.
The family extends sincere appreciation to the caring staff of Helping Hands.
Mom chose to be cremated. A memorial graveside service will be held on Saturday, August 27, 2011 at 10:00 am at the Hagerman Cemetery in Hagerman.
Arrangements are under the care of Demaray Funeral Service – Gooding Chapel.
