Mary Alice (Jennings) Burgess, 84 of East Hampton, beloved wife of the late Francis M. Burgess, passed away Thursday (March l7, 2005) at Cobalt Lodge Health Care & Rehab, Cobalt.

She was born in Lansing, MI, June 23, 1920, daughter of the late Hugh and Grace (Vanallsburg) Jennings. Mary had resided in Lansing for most of her life moving to East Hampton several years ago. She was a member of the Plymouth Congregational Church, Lansing, and was a member of the Mayflower Circle and served as president. Mary was a former active member of the Sparrow Hospital Auxiliary, and served as president. She enjoyed entertaining and playing golf. Mary will always be remembered by her family for being a loving Mom and Grandmother.

She is survived by a son, John M. Burgess of Bloomfield, MI; her daughter, Lynn Ann LaChase of East Hampton; seven grandchildren, Greg, Laurie, Julie, Meredith, Allison, Arielle and Jacklyn; and six great grandchildren.

Friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service and Celebration of Mary's life on Tuesday, March 29, 11 a.m. at the Spencer Funeral Home, 112 Main St., East Hampton. The Reverend Thomas Kennedy, minister of East Hampton Congregational Church will officiate. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery, East Hampton at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to American Parkinson Disease Association, 27 Allendale Drive, North Haven, CT 06473 or American Cancer Society, P.O. l004, Meriden, CT 06450.
