John Blackwell Taken By Death
Last Rites Held Sunday for Former
B & O Railroad Man

John Blackwell, 79, well known citizen of
the Georgia neighborhood, died at his home
there at 8:45 a.m. last Friday he had been in
failing health of several years.

Funeral service was held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday
at the Clements Funeral homer here, with
the Rev. Otto Duncan in charge. Burial was in
the Georgia cemetery.

Mr. Blackwell was born October 9, 1875 to
Ellsworth and Rachel Berry Blackwell, near
Bryantsville. He was married to Miss Zora
Fox, who survives.

Most of their married life was spent in the
Georgia community. for many years, Mr.
Blackwell worked as a section man for the
Baltimore and Ohio railroad. In an accident
about 17 years ago, he sustained an injury
which made it necessary for his right leg to
be amputated. His health had not been good
since that time.

He was a member of the Bryantsville Church
of Christ.

In addition to the widow he is survived by
two sons, Eddie Blackwell, route 2, and Earl
Blackwell of Shelbyville, Ill. one daughter,
Mrs. Lottie Woods, route 2, Bedford: four
brothers, Wesley Blackwell of Kimball, S. D.,
Fred Blackwell of Shelbyville, Ill.: George and
Robert Blackwell of Mitchell, two sisters, Mrs.
Nora King route 1, Mrs. Mary Elliott of Orleans.
eight grandchildren, and 44 nieces and nephews.
