FORMER SPANISH WAR VETERANS CHIEF DIES
Word has been received in St. Petersburg of the death of Charles R. Barefoot, past commander in chief of the Spanish War Veterans, in Oslo, Norway. He was about 80.
Mr. Barefoot, a Toledo lawyer, was long active in veterans' affairs and served in the highest office of the Spanish War Veterans in 1948-1949.
He is survived by a sister in Toledo. Gardner-Golbee Funeral Home, Toledo, is in charge of arrangements.

Charles R. Barefoot, Sr., 79, of 247 Michigan Street, an attorney and former city councilman, died Thursday in Oslo, Norway, where he was visiting.
Survived by son, Charles R., two grandchildren of Toledo, and three grandchildren of Stockholm Sweden; brothers, Paul, Arlington, Va., Glen, Johnstown, Pa.; sisters, Mrs. Ivis McFeaters, Pittsburgh, Pa., and Mrs. Emma Jillette, Washington, D.C.
Visitation, Collingwood Lodge No. 457, F&AM services and funeral services were held at Gardner Dolbee Mortuary, Ashland at Batavia.
Military services and interment were at Toledo Memorial Park.

LODGE ACTIVITES
Zed E. Gunder, vice commander, of the local chapter of United Spanish War Veterans, has received announcement of funeral services Friday in Toledo for Charles R. Barefoot, a past state and national commander-in-chief of the veterans' lodge. His death occurred July 11 in Norway where he was visiting a son.
The services will be held at 10 a.m. in the Gardner-Dolbee Funeral Home at 2303 Ashland Ave., Toledo and burial will be in Toledo. Mr. Barefoot was a retired Toledo lawyer.
In addition to the draping of the local chapter's charter in his memory the charter of the auxiliary will be draped to honor him and a past president of the state auxiliary, Mrs. Mayme Hoecker of Canton, whose funeral services were conducted Wednesday.
Because of illness of officers heading both the camp and the auxiliary the meetings of the two groups scheduled for Friday will be canceled.
