Darrell E. Allen, 64, of Granite City, Ill., born Oct. 15, 1946, in Maud, Okla., passed from this life at home on Saturday, Aug. 20, 2011, with his family by his side.

Mr. Allen was a journeyman machinist for the Owens Corporation in Godfrey, Ill.. He served his country proudly in the U.S. Army and was a member of the V.F.W. in Granite City, Ill., Eagles Lodge, American Legion and the AmVets in Madison, Ill.

He was preceded in death by his father, Dennis Allen; his father-in-law, LeRoy Mullen; and mother-in-law, June Mullen.

Surviving are his wife, Susan, nee Mullen, Allen, whom he married on June 28, 1986; mother and father, Pauline, nee White, Allen Smith and Wallace J. Smith of Granite City, Ill.; daughters, Kim Peters of Carbondale, Ill., Becky (Michael) McAllister of Granite City, Ill., and Laura Worley of Granite City, Ill.; son, Todd Peters of Mascoutah , Ill.; grandchildren, Max, Ashtin, Danon, Alexis and Alex; sisters, Joyce, Barbara and Dottie; brothers, Danny, Melvin, Chris, Erick, Dewayne and Dwight.

Memorials are suggested to Hospice of Southern Illinois.

Visitation: Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2011, at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City, Ill.

Funeral: Funeral service will begin at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2011, at the funeral home. Burial with full military honors will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 25, 2011, at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, Mo.
