Francis immigrated with her father and step-mother and two brothers in 1876. The family settled first in Wisconsin where Francis married Herman Benning in Lomira, Wisconsin on January 27, 1879.
Herman and Francis had six children. Their first child was born in Saline County, Nebraska in 1880 so it is assumed that the Bennings migrated to Nebraska with the Havliks. By the birth of their second child in May, 1881, they had returned to Wisconsin. They lived the remainder of their lives in Wisconsin.
Their children were:
Charles Emil (1880-1954)
Jules Louis (1881-1963)
Frank A. (1882-1917)
Emma E. (1885-1950)
Oscar (1888-1974)
Herman A. (1890-1930)
