CHADWICK - Henry Karl Appel of rural Chadwick died Wednesday in University Hospital, Iowa City, Iowa. Mr. Appel, a member of First Lutheran Church of Chadwick, was a longtime Carroll County farmer. He was born Aug. 10, 1899, in Mount Carroll, son of John and Mary (Sack) Appel. On March 23, 1924, he married Anna Miller in Chadwick. Surviving are his widow; two daughters, Mrs. Elmer (Marie) Rohde of Elmhurst and Mrs. Robert (Virgina) Lubben of Rock Island; a son, Kenneth H. of Chadwick; eight grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. John (Irene) Hartman of Mount Carroll and Mrs. Julius (Luella) Brown of Tucson, Ariz,; and a brother, Arthur of Lanark. He was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister. Funeral service will be at 3 p.m. Saturday in Allen Funeral Home, Sterling. The Rev. Earl Coble of Freeport will officiate.
