Business Magnate. Mr. Walker was the eldest son of David. D. Walker, who was the founder of the Ely & Walker Dry Goods Company and the great-great grandfather of President George W. Bush. Born in St. Louis, he graduated from St. Louis University in 1833, and began working for the firm shortly thereafter. He was the secretary of the corporation at the time of his death. He was married to Dr. Henry Mudd's daughter Katherine and is buried in their family plot.
