Thomas B. River - Pueblo Chieftain - January 17, 1998 - Florence Mortuary Florence, Colo. Thomas B. River, 85, of Penrose, born on June 12, 1912, in Gypsum, Colo., died Jan. 14, 1998. He served in the U.S. Army and was a member of BPOE No. 611 and was a Presbyterian. He lived in Fremont County most of his life and worked in mines as a young man in Cripple Creek and Victor. He drove a coal truck for Corley Mine and served his country in World War II in Korea. After his time in the service he went to work for Portland Cement and worked there until his retirement in the early 70's. He was an adopted father to many of his nieces and nephews and was an avid Broncos fan and loved baseball and rodeos. He married Bernice (Curtis) on July 4, 1936, in Denver.

He is survived by daughter, Peggy (Joe) Jarrett of Pueblo- son, Thomas (Joyce) River of Shelton, Wash.- grandchildren, Rodney and Wesley Wilson of Pueblo, Scott (Cindy) River of Shelton, Wash., and Michelle River of Oregon- sister, Mary (Harry) Hildreth of Clearfield, Utah- sister-in-law, Ruth River of Texas and Thelma (Cliff) Halbrook of Elizabeth, Colo.- many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his wife- parents- and grandson, Jeffery Wilson. Funeral service, 10:30 a.m. today at Florence Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Dale Powell. Internment at Union Highland Cemetery at a later date.
