Joined the United States Navy, in his words " I joined the Navy because of Durk" Durk was my Dads nickname.
Larry served 2 tours in Vietnam.
3 of his 5 Children were born in California. Only 3 are still living, his wife Sara also passed away several years ago. The youngest, was adopted by her brother, as both parents have passed away. Jill passed away as an infant and I was so young, I don't remember if it was in CA or NC, I just remember seeing photos of the funeral. I have searched but cannot find a record.
When he received his Honorable Discharge, he decided to move to Gastonia, NC where his oldest brother lived.
He took College classes and eventually his career path went to a completely different direction.
He was an Arson Investigator for the Fire Department in Gaston Co. NC
Extremely bright, funny, and liked scary movies. I remember being allowed to stay up late and watch them with him. *smiles*
He never forgot my birthday....EVER!
He had serious health problems, some brought on by horrific car accidents, and he was exposed to Agent Orange during the War in Vietnam.
He passed away after a very short fight with Cancer.
Larry, people still ask me about you, people still remember you, you will always be remembered.
