Mrs. W. C. Hankla died Saturday night at the home of her daughter, Mr. Glen Bolick, Luray, Va.. Funeral services were held at Grace Lutheran Church in Rural Retreat Monday afternoon, and were in charge of the Rev. A. K. Hewitt, of Konnarock, assisted by the Rev. A. J. Shumate and the Rev. John Futchs, pastor of Tazewell and Burke's Garden Lutheran churches. Mrs. Hankla is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Bolick and one son James Hankla, of Rural Retreat, and two sisters, Mrs. Sanders Gillespie and Miss Sallie Mahood, of Tazewell. A number of relatives and friends from this community attended the funeral of Mrs. Hankla at Rural Retreat on Monday. Among those were Mrs. C. W. Greever, Mrs. C. J. Moss, Misses Ida, Emma, Clara, and Nell Greever, Rev. J. F. Futchs, Mrs. Clarence Lewis, Mrs. W. B. Leslie, Mrs. Saunders Gillespie, Miss Sallie Mahood, who has been with her sister at Luray, returned to that place for a visit with her niece, Mrs. Glenn Bolick.
