Margaret May Idol, child of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Idol, was born in Irving township September 24, 1903, and died at the home of her parents in Hiawatha a victim of influenza March 4, 1919, aged 15 years, five months and ten days.

With her parents she came to Hiawatha about three years ago and since living here made many friends amongst the younger set with whom she was very popular. She was one of the lovely and popular girls of the town and her untimely death is generally mourned. She was more of a pal to her father than she was a daughter and was with him on all occasions. In the home she was industrious and useful for one of her years and had the promise of a bright future. She was bright in her books and learned easily and was in her first year in High school. That one with such bright prospects should be stricken down just as she was budding into womanhood is a calamity that none can understand. It is sad beyond expression and the fond parents find it hard to become reconciled to give up their only treasure. It must be that the Lord had other use for her and that He called her from her earthly home to dwell forever in the realm of life and light eternal.

The funeral will be from the home Friday afternoon, conducted by Rev. E. T. Rice and Rev. L. L. Hassenpflug. The Methodist choir composed of Mr. and Mrs. C.A. Harpster, S. D. Moser and Miss Ruth Rice, one of the teachers will sing. Miss Nelle Lewis, a life long friend of the family, is to sing a solo. The boys in her class asked to perform the last service for her and will bear her earthly remains to their last resting place in Mount Hope cemetery, they are Burdette Swartz, John Archer, Donald Rullman, Flavel Funk, Harlan Welsh, Hugh Donley, Walter McAdow and Harold Sinclair. The grieved father and mother have the sympathy of the entire community in their sad bereavement.
