Jeramiah Jackson Baker served in Company D, 26th NC Infantry. Enlisted as a private August 19, 1861 and surrendered on April 9, 1865. Jeremiah was married 4 times with Melinda being his first wife and the mother of William David Baker.
Monument at the cemetery is a replacement and his dates are incorrect. He is buried adjacent to his fourth wife, Nancy Jean Dean Baker.
