His mother was Nettie Parker, daughter of Leroy Emory Parker and Sarah Wakefield. Nettie and James Turrentine were married in 1897 in Morgan County. She was a niece to Junie Parker Turrentine who was James' first wife. Nettie married W. M. Evans in 1901 in Jefferson County. I cannot find any record of her after the marriage.

Funeral services for Robert Earl Turrentine, 82, Rt. 2, Hartselle, who died August 2 in a local hospital, were Wednesday August 5 at 2 p.m. at Shady Grove Baptist Church, Rev. Wendell Callahan and Rev. Teddie Turrentine officiating. Burial was in Johnson Chapel, Peck Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include his wife, Edna Turrentine, Rt. 2, Hartselle; six sons, Robert Turrentine, Hartselle, James Thomas Turrentine, Columbus, Ga., Raymond Turrentine, Kalamazoo, Mich., Franklin Turrentine, Collinsville, Okla., Charles Turrentine and Henry Turrentine, both of Rt. 2, Hartselle; one son-in-law, James H. Martin, Rt. 5, Hartselle; 22 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Eddie Turrentine, Freddie Turrentine, Teddie Turrentine, Bradley Turrentine, Wayland Turrentine, and Jimmy Martin.

He was a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church.
