Conrad J. Abel was born in Millerville township, Douglas county, on Oct. 4, 1886, the son of Michael and Anna Franz Abel. He never married and spent his entire life in the Millerville community, with the exception of a period of time spent in the armed forces during World War I and during World War II he worked on the West coast at defense jobs. Conrad was an active member in the Knights of Columbus, Foresters and local American Legion Post.
He passed away at his home early Thursday morning, Feb. 28, being at the time of his death 70 years, 4 months, and 24 days old. He is survived by three brothers, Fredrick Abel, Peter Abel, and Nicholas Abel, all of Millerville, and one sister, (Mary) Mrs. Joseph Cichy, also of Millerville. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, John and Michael, and one sister (Elizabeth) Mrs. Clemens Arken.
