RETIRED RUTLEDGE FARMER FOUND DEAD AT HIS HOME MONDAY EVENING

Walter W Ahland Sr., of Rutledge, was found dead at his home about 6 o'clock Monday evening, May 31 1971, by his son Walter W. Ahland Jr., of near Memphis. He had spent most of his life in the Rutledge vicinity where he was engaged in farming until his retirement. He was 78 years of age.

Funeral services are at 2 o'clock this afternoon at the Gerth and Baskett Funeral Chapel in Memphis with the Rev. Cleo Kottwitz of there officiating. Burial will be in the Greensburg Cemetery with military rites at the graveside.

Surviving with the son mentioned, are his wife, the former Alma Cravens, whom he married Jun 26 1926, a daughter, Mary Ann, Mrs Vincent Rourke, of Burlington, Iowa, and five grandchildren.

Mr Ahland was born May 3 1893 in Marion County, a son of Carl Louis and Anna Elizabeth Ahland, who preceded him in death as did a brother, Carl Franklin Ahland and a sister, Mrs. Marie Barnett. Mr Ahland was a member of the Lutheran Church.
