Oswald Krell (O.K.) Baker, 86, of Indianapolis, died Dec. 12, 1997, at Regency Nursing Home in Greenwood, Ind.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Grand View Burial Park. The Rev. Walter Reed will officiate.
Mr. Baker was born June 6, 1911, in St. Charles to James Melvin and Grace Zumwalt Baker.
He was married to Inez Virginia Yount on June 11, 1938, in Hannibal. She survives.
Also surviving are three sons, Jim Baker of Columbus, Ind., Ivan Baker of Shreveport, La., and Keith Baker of San Benito, Texas; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Eva Nesslage and Imogene Rothermich, both of St. Charles, and Dorris Slivon of Poplar Bluff.
Mr. Baker was employed by Brown Shoe Co. in Clayton for 28 years. He then opened an independent shoe store, O.K. Baker Shoes, in Hays, Kan., which he operated for 14 years.
Mr. Baker was the founding chairman of Hayes Sidewalk Bazaar. He was a lifelong member of the Presbyterian Church. He was honored as a lifetime member of Hays PTA.
He enjoyed square dancing, barbershop singing and membership in the Christian Endeavor and Toastmasters.
After his retirement, Mr. Baker moved to south Texas, where he was active in the Winter Texans Club and Dawson Theater Guild.
No visitation is planned. The Smith Funeral Home in Hannibal is in charge of arrangements.
