MOUNTAIN Viewβ€”Funeral for Adam Leon Kaulaity Sr., 81, Mountain View, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Rainy Mountain Indian Baptist Church, Mountain View, with the Rev. Reeves Nahwooks officiating. Wake service will be at 7 p.m. Friday at Kiowa Tribal Complex Elders Center, Carnegie. Mr. Kaulaity died Wednesday, May 28, 2003, at a Lawton hospital. Burial will be at Samone Tribal Cemetery, Carnegie under direction of Pitcher-Hackney Funeral Home, Carnegie. He was born May 24, 1922, near Mountain View to Joseph and Sallie Tonekeahbo Kaulaity. He graduated from Mountain View High School in 1942. He married Helen Quoinquodle Red Horn on Sept. 6, 1946. He was a member of the Kiowa Tribe, whip man for the Kiowa Gourd Clan and a charter member and secretary of the Kiowa Black Leggings Society. He was also captain of the Kiowa County Hand Game Team, and a Kiowa tribal singer. He served in the Army during World War II from 1942-1945 in the European Theater as a tech 5 sergeant. Awards he received include the World War II Victory Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, American Theater Ribbon, EAME Theater Ribbon and three Bronze Service Stars. He played football for the Mountain View Tigers, and was a champion domino player. He was a farmer.
