William Ray Smithey of Paris and Essie Mae Jones of Moberly, were married here Saturday evening at the home of the officiating minister, Dr. A. A. Wallace, pastor of the Mexico Presbyterian Church. The ceremony was attended by Gladys Everhart of Moberly.

Ray Smithey, Paris, Long in III Health, Dies in St. Louis
PARIS, April 24 — William Ray Smithey, 34, died at 7:25 o'clock yesterday morning at the Lutheran Hospital, St, Louis, where he had been a patient the past six weeks.
Mr. Smithey had been in ill health the past three years. On April 26, 1947, his left leg was amputated in St. John's Hospital, St, Louis. Upon recovering he started a laundry business in Paris, which he operated for two years, and a month. Mr. Smithey was taken to Woodland Hospital in Moberly in January and on Jan. 31 was taken to Barnes Hospital, St. Louis.
He is survived by his wife, former Miss Essie Mae Jones, Paris; three daughters, Linda Ray, 4, Sandra Kay, 20 months, and Billie Jane, 3 months; his mother, Mrs. Genevieve Smithey, Paris; his father, Cavit [sic] Smithey, St. Louis; and two brothers, James Hubert Smithey, Paris, and Charles Smithey, Los Angeles, Calif.
The body was taken to the Speed and Blakey Funeral Home, where funeral services will be held. Definite arrangements are not known.

Smithey Funeral Set For Sunday Afternoon
PARIS, April 29 — Funeral services for William Ray Smithey, 34, who died last Sunday morning in Lutheran Hospital, St. Louis, will be conducted at 2:30 o'clock tomorrow afternoon at the Speed and Blakey Funeral Home by the Rev. R. M. Lemley, pastor of the Paris Presbyterian Church, Burial will be in the Walnut Grove Cemetery.
