Herbert Baturin
January 16, 1934 - February 14, 2010
It is with great sadness we say goodbye to our husband, father and grandfather. Herb passed away on Sunday February 14th, 2010 at West Coast General Hospital surrounded by his loving family, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Herb is predeceased by his parents, Fred and Mary and will be greatly missed by his immediate family; Nita, his loving wife of 55 years; his 3 children: Pat (Mark), Shawn (Mel), Mike and 2 grandchildren Craig and Jennifer.
He will also be missed by his sister Irene; brother Jon; two aunts, Polly and Fran, his step mother; Christina Baturin.
Also leaves behind brother-in-law Vern and Anne Friesen, sister-in-law Wanda Neufeld and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Herb was born in Kamsack, Sask on January 16th, 1934, and moved to Port Alberni with his family at the age of 4. He first started his working career at the age of ten delivering the Vancouver Sun to many satisfied customers. While still in school he worked part-time at Woodwards and also worked there full time after graduation. Over the years he also worked at the Pulp & Paper Mill, Robertson Creek Hatchery and ended his working career as a Longshoreman. Herb loved the outdoors, hunting and fishing. He was also a curler and was a lifetime member of the Alberni Golf Club. His later passions were RVing and cruising.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:30pm on Saturday February 20th, 2010 at Yates Funeral Chapel, 4470 Gertrude Street, Port Alberni, BC
