Charles A. Gass, 83, of Marion, died Tuesday, Aug. 9, 2011 at Crittenden Health and Rehabilitation Center. He was an electrical engineer and a U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II and the Korean War. Gass also played baseball with Marion Independents, or sometimes call the Red Sox, of the Twin States League.
He is survived by two sons, Claude Gass of Marion and Richard Gass of Huntsville, Ala.; a sister, Wanda Sue Shewmaker of Marion; two grandchildren; three nieces, Amber, Jessica and Arianna "Angel" Hodge, all of Marion and many cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frazer and Fleta Champion Gass.
Private funeral services were held with Rev. Wayne Garvey officiating.
Burial was in Mapleview Cemetery.
