Mr. Emley was born in Jersey City. He lived in West Long Branch and Matawan before moving here in Sept.
He was employed by the New Jersey Highway Authority and was in charge of all refrigerator maintenance until his retirement seven years ago. He taught refrigeration at Bergen County Vocation School and at several colleges for 30 years. He was a charter member of the Refrigeration Service Engineers Society of Monmouth County.
Mr. Emley was a communicant of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, New Monmouth.
Surviving are two sons, Jay Emley of West Long Branch and William P. Emley of Friendly, Md.; a daughter, Mrs George Jeremey, here; a sister, Mrs. John Scheving of Pinehurst, N.C.; 19 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
The John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, New Monmouth, is in charge of arrangements.
