Ririe, Nov. 13 - Clarence N. Kemper, 77, well known valley farmer and stockman died Tuesday afternoon in a Salt Lake City hospital following brain surgery. Keeper, who resided on the Ririe Highway, had been hospitalized five weeks ago.

Kemper was born on Nov. 29, 1879 in Chicago, Ill, a son of John D. And Rosina Bach Kemper.

At the age of 17, he joined his brothers in operating a farm in Center Point, Iowa. During this time he met Carolyn Elliott of Marion, Kan., whom he married on Aug. 12, 1908 at Marion.

They farmed in Marion until 1911 when they came to Idaho. They settled at Milo and homesteaded on Martins Flat. Later he purchased the R. L. Bybee farm on the Ririe Highway. During his childhood, Kemper was a member of the Evangelical Church. Upon moving to this area he joined the Trinity Methodist Church in Idaho Falls.

In addition to his widow, he is survived by one son, James, of Rigby, two daughters, Mrs. M. F. (Helen) Tehan of Detroit, Mich., Mrs. John O. (Gretchen) Toliver of Jacksonville, Fla. and a foster son, Ted. O. Anderson of Idaho Falls.

In addition to eight grandchildren, he is also survived by three brothers, John of Dixon, Ill.; William of Minot, N.D.; Edward, of Barrington, Ill, and one sister Mrs. Lillian Buxton of Harvey, Ill.
