Henry Bowles Holman was the son of Nathaniel Holman and Ann Winn of old Virginia. His father was a 1st Lt. in the Virginia Militia with George Washington's Army during the Revolutionary War.

He married Elizabeth DuVal the 24th of October, 1798 in Henrico County, Virginia. They immigrated with other family members and friends from Virginia to Kentucky sometime around 1809-1810 and settled in Barren County, Kentucky.

Henry Bowles Holman and Elizabeth (DuVal) Holman were the parents of 10 children: Nancy, Elizabeth, Joseph, Susannah, Harriet, John, Nathaniel Henry, William, Stephen and Sarah Jane Holman.

It is believed that Henry Bowles Holman and Elizabeth DuVal Holman were buried on their Homestead Land in the Old Holman Cemetery in Barren County, Kentucky. There are no markers left but two very large field stones have been suggested as those which mark their graves.
