Betty Jean Spain, 87 of Decatur died 10:30 pm. Thursday Aug. 11, 2011 at McKinley Court Nursing Home. Betty was born February 21, 1924 in Ramsey, IL., daughter of James and Rachel Hawkins Bechtel. She married Harold Spain Feb. 8, 1943 in Decatur. He died on Sept. 3, 1976. Surviving are her daughters, Patricia Zanni of Mt. Zion, IL., Judy (Carl) Campbell of Anderson, S.C., Verna (Roger) Andes of Florida, sons, Timothy (Kathy) Spain, Gary Spain of Decatur, eight grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, sister Marian Ihrig of Princeton, IL., brother, James Bechtel of Decatur. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers and two sisters.
